The “April Fool” Physics Rework. Part of AW Assetto Corsa mods collection.
The BMW M3 Touring was never meant to be a GT3 car. While the “G81” wagon is a masterpiece of road engineering, converting it into a competitive GT3 machine for Assetto Corsa requires more than just adding a wing and a widebody kit. Most versions of this car currently circulating are “Frankenstein” mods—visual masterpieces built on top of generic or mismatched physics that fail to capture the brutal precision of a real GT3 EVO.
This update is a “Ground-Up” overhaul. We’ve stripped away the road-car compromises and “lazy” logic to deliver a 2025-spec EVO that finally handles with the authority and technical depth of its M4 GT3 sibling.
The “Touring GT3” Physics Philosophy
The goal wasn’t just to make the car fast, but to make it technically honest. We moved away from the standard M3 strut-based logic and rebuilt the chassis to reflect a professional racing conversion. This rework focuses on the mechanical “hidden” details—suspension geometry, aero-mapping, and steering fidelity—that separate a “novelty mod” from a simulation-grade racer.
Key Technical Changes in This Update
1. Suspension & Steering Geometry Rebuild
The most significant change is the move from the standard front strut layout to a Double Wishbone (DWB) configuration.
- Geometry Correction: We have completely recalculated the suspension nodes. This fixes the “negative length rod” bugs found in earlier versions, which caused erratic handling and physics crashes under heavy compression.
- Steering Rack Fidelity: The steering geometry has been re-indexed to realistic GT3 standards. You will now feel a linear, communicative build-up of force through the rack, eliminating the “numb” center feel typical of road-car conversions.
2. Engine & Drivetrain: The P58 EVO Heart
We’ve discarded the “fantasy” power figures for a strictly regulated GT3 EVO engine profile.
- The Twin-Turbo Plateau: The engine configuration now mimics the S58-based P58 racing unit. Power is capped at a competitive 590 bhp with a flat 700 Nm torque curve. No more “infinite boost”—just the calculated, predictable delivery required for endurance racing.
- Xtrac 6-Speed Sequential: The drivetrain has been rebuilt to simulate the Xtrac 6-speed transaxle. Gear ratios and shift times (40ms) are now synced to professional racing standards, replacing the sluggish road-going ZF8 logic.
3. Aero Rebalance & Brake Simulation
- Realistic Aero Map: The aero elements have been adjusted so the car no longer relies on “magic grip.” Downforce is now a product of speed and rake, requiring a precise setup to keep the rear stable through high-speed sweepers.
- GT3-Spec Braking: We’ve replaced the civilian brake logic with high-performance racing friction models. The initial bite and heat-fade characteristics now match the carbon-ceramic demands of a 12-hour stint at Sebring.
4. Tire Grip & Competitive Balancing
- Slick Performance: Tire grip has been balanced against the official GT3 tire sets used in major competitive leagues. This ensures the M3 Touring can sit on a grid of M4s, 296s, and GT3 Rs and hold its own through pure mechanical parity.
Visual & Technical Refinements
To ensure the mod meets modern “CSP” standards, we’ve implemented several visual and structural fixes:
- 3D Collider Rebuild: We’ve fitted a custom-fit 3D collider. This fixes the common issue where the car would “snag” on curbs or bottom out on geometry that the visual model didn’t touch.
- Lighting & Shaders: Headlight beams have been re-calibrated for better throw during night racing. We’ve also applied a proper tire shader to correct the “plastic” look of the original rubber, giving the tires a realistic matte, heat-cycled texture.
- Bug Squashing: Fixed several small 3D bugs, including flickering meshes and incorrect transparency layers.
Why This Rework Matters
In the sim-racing world, a “Wagon GT3” might start as an April Fool’s joke, but it shouldn’t drive like one. By correcting the suspension geometry and fixing the “impossible” physics, we’ve turned an unusual concept into a legitimate competitive tool. This is for the drivers who want the absurdity of a Touring body with the uncompromising soul of a GT3 EVO.
24/04/2026 BOP Update:
- Reworked BOP, now car is much closer to competition.
- Some AI tweaks
- Added BMW Factory skin by excellent demankz.
14/05/2026 Upd: Added new BMW Factory skin made by excellent demankz.
Installation Requirements
- Base Model: This rework is designed for the Ceky Performance visual model.
- Method: Backup your original data. Extract the contents into the car’s cky_bmw_m3_gt3_evo folder, overwriting the
data, extension, anduifolders. - Requirement: Latest version of Custom Shaders Patch (CSP) is highly recommended for the lighting and tire shader fixes.
