The French Godzilla Rework. Part of AW Assetto Corsa mods collection.

The Renault R.S.01 is a mechanical anomaly. Built on a Dallara LMP1-spec carbon monocoque but forced to compete in GT3-spec classes, the factory car relied on heavy Balance of Performance (BoP) adjustments to clip its wings. This physics and visual overhaul completely re-engineers the car from the ground up, bringing its mechanical data, drivetrain architecture, and asset quality up to modern scratch-built simulation standards.

The goal of this rework was simple: eliminate generic template physics and replace them with verified, data-first engineering to make the R.S.01 a highly authentic, competitive peer to modern GT3 grids (such as RSS).

Drivetrain & Engine Dynamics

  • The Nissan Core: True to its mechanical lineage, the engine power and torque curves have been entirely rebuilt using official Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 (VR38DETT) data.
  • The 7-Speed Exception: Unlike standard GT3 machinery limited to 6 gears, this rework retains the authentic 7-speed Sadev SLR82-14 longitudinal transaxle. The gear ratios, shift durations, and pneumatic ignition-cut windows have been fully synchronized to eliminate shift-lag and physics engine calculation errors.

Chassis & Geometry Re-Engineering

  • Weight Distribution & Mass: Static weight bias has been corrected to a true Mid-Engine, Rear-Wheel-Drive (MR) setup at 44% Front / 56% Rear. Total mass has been increased to match realistic FIA GT3 BoP baselines, removing the ultra-light prototype advantage while preserving the car’s physical inertia.
  • Suspension Kinematics: The suspension lines have been heavily revised to accommodate the high-downforce MR layout. Roll centers, track widths, and damper curves are tuned specifically for high-speed stability and sharp corner-exit traction without invoking erratic lift-off oversteer.
  • Differential Overhaul: Inverted locking strategies have been fixed. Power and coast lock percentages are adjusted to maximize the 56% rear weight bias, stopping inside wheel spin while maintaining clean rotation on entry.

Aerodynamics & Tyres

  • Aero Map Reconstruction: The aero balance has been completely recalculated. The radical prototype downforce has been realistically scaled down to mirror a high-downforce GT3 aero profile, preventing the car from breaking the physics balance on high-speed circuits.
  • Modern Tyre Footprint: The tyre lines have been updated to a modern GT3 slick compound profile, aligning slip angles, thermal degradation, and contact patch flex with current grid expectations.

Visuals & Asset Optimization

  • CSP Shader Integration: All materials, glass, emissives, and carbon textures have been updated to utilize modern Custom Shaders Patch (CSP) features, improving light interaction and cockpit fidelity.
  • New custom fitted 3d collider is made for this car.
  • Texture Remastering: Every included skin has been upscaled to 4K resolution and re-encoded into the superior BC7 texture compression format, eliminating blocky artifacting and reducing VRAM overhead.

The Final Test

With 56% of the mass sitting directly behind your shoulder blades, the chassis demands absolute commitment on corner entry. Are you skilled enough to balance the car on the brakes and get the nose rotated, or will you panic, lift off, and let that rear weight bias snap you into the barriers? Let us know your lap times—and your survival rate—in the comments below.

Installation Requirements

  • Base Model: Is from ACM / hayai and needed to be installed first.
  • Method: Extract the contents into the car’s folder, overwriting the data, extension, and ui folders.
  • Requirement: Latest version of Custom Shaders Patch (CSP) is highly recommended for the lighting and tire shader fixes.
