Honda Civic Type R-GT (GT500): The Next Generation Rework
The 2024+ Civic Type R-GT represents a new era of aerodynamic efficiency. Moving away from the mid-engine layout of the NSX, this front-engine, rear-drive (FR) layout required a complete physics overhaul to match the real-world performance of the HR-420E 2.0L turbo engine and the Class 1 technical regulations.
GT500 “Class 1” Power & BoP
To ensure this car can trade paint with the URD Supra and Nissan Z GT500s, we have completely recalibrated the powertrain:
- HR-420E Engine Simulation: Reworked the 2.0L inline-4 turbo to produce a regulated 650+ HP. We have modeled the steep torque curve typical of high-fuel-flow racing engines, ensuring it pulls hard to the 9,000+ RPM limiter.
- URD BoP Alignment: Weight and power-to-weight ratios have been adjusted to match the “Balance of Performance” used in the URD EGT/GT500 packs. This ensures that in a multi-class race, the Civic remains competitive without being “OP.”
- No Driver Aids: Per GT500 regulations, TC (Traction Control) and ABS have been removed. The car now requires precise throttle management and threshold braking, rewarding skilled drivers.
Aerodynamics & Chassis Dynamics
The Civic body style has a different aero signature compared to the NSX.
- Aero Rebalance: We have adjusted the downforce distribution to reflect the 2024 aero regs. The car features a “moderate downforce, low drag” profile, making it a weapon on high-speed straights like Fuji Speedway.
- Brake Balance & Suspension: The brake bias has been shifted further to the front to account for the engine’s forward position. Suspension geometry was overhauled to remove the “generic” feel, providing a stiff, responsive platform that handles curbs like a professional GT500 machine.
- Tire Performance: Tweaked the tire heating and wear curves to match the URD/RSS standards, ensuring consistent grip over a full stint.
Visual & AI Improvements
- Flame Correction: Corrected the exhaust flame positioning to align with the actual side-exit exhaust points found on the Type R-GT’s bodywork.
- AI Rework: The AI has been taught the new braking and acceleration limits of the car. They are now more aggressive in overtaking and better at defending their lines in a GT500 pack.
- Graphics Extension: Added a custom
ext_config.inito improve the carbon fiber textures, internal cockpit displays, and the “red-h Honda” emblem glow.
Installation Requirements
Note: This physics and graphics configuration is designed for compatibility with the cslm_type_r_gt500.
- Required: A valid installation of the base model by
cslm_type_r_gt500is required to apply these technical updates. - Compatibility: Optimized for use with CSP (Custom Shaders Patch).
- Method: Replace the
dataandextensionfolders in the car’s root directory.
