Ferrari Daytona SP3: The Ultimate “Icona” Series Rework

The Ferrari Daytona SP3 is a masterpiece of the “Icona” series, serving as a high-performance tribute to the legendary 1967 24 Hours of Daytona podium finish. While the 3D model from the MNBA Group is exceptionally solid—featuring high-fidelity LODs and full animations—our physics rework was designed to bridge the gap between a “visual model” and a true-to-life simulation of this mid-rear V12 pinnacle.

The “Onboard” Accuracy: Powertrain & Gearing

The December 2025 update brings a breakthrough in drivetrain accuracy for this 840 CV masterpiece. Most mods use generic gear ratios, but we went deeper to capture the unique character of the mid-mounted V12:

  • Custom Gear Ratios: By analyzing real-world YouTube onboard acceleration footage and factory documentation, we have recalibrated the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. These shorter, more aggressive ratios ensure the car stays in the “power band” of the staggering 9,500 RPM redline.
  • Torque Curve & Drivetrain Loss: We have implemented a new torque curve that accounts for a realistic 17% drivetrain loss. This ensures that the power “at the wheels” matches real-world performance, specifically the brutal 0–200 km/h sprint in just 7.4 seconds.
  • Engine Inertia: To capture the massive “soul” of the 6.5L F140 HC engine, we added a slight amount of engine inertia. This gives the V12 a realistic weight when revving, making the downshifts feel more visceral and mechanically grounded.

Mid-Rear Dynamic Handling & Aerodynamics

Unlike the front-engined 812, the Daytona SP3 uses a mid-rear layout which completely changes the polar moment of inertia:

  • Rear-Biased Weight: We have shifted the weight distribution to the rear to accurately reflect the mid-engine mounting. This provides the signature “Icona” balance—tremendous traction on exit with a very responsive front end.
  • Suspension Tuning: In our latest update, the rear suspension has been softened slightly. This improves mechanical grip under acceleration and allows the car to better soak up the bumps of technical circuits like the Nordschleife or Mugello.
  • Passive Aero Rebalance: The SP3 relies on sophisticated passive aerodynamics. We have rebalanced the aero map to produce realistic downforce levels, applying minor drag adjustments to ensure the car reaches its official 340+ km/h top speed with realistic air resistance.

Technical Polish & Fixes

  • Custom Collider: We have replaced the standard collider with a custom-fitted version that perfectly matches the SP3’s low and wide bodywork, preventing clipping during close-quarter racing.
  • Mirror & UI Fixes: We addressed the common “flipped mirror” bug and updated the UI and previews to meet modern Assetto Corsa standards.
  • Tire Grip Calibration: Tire performance has been tweaked to provide a more progressive “break-away” feel, allowing you to catch the SP3’s legendary slides with confidence.

Installation Requirements

Note: This physics and graphics configuration is designed for compatibility with the MNBA model.

  • Required: A valid installation of the base model by MNBA is required to apply these technical updates.
  • Included: The 7z archive contains the updated dataextensionui, and skin previews.
  • Method: Drop the folders into your car directory and overwrite when prompted.
