Dodge Coronet Super Bee: The “Elephant” Muscle Rework

The Hemi Super Bee was a rare beast, featuring the most expensive engine option in the Dodge catalog. This overhaul brings the physics back to their “unrefined” roots, prioritizing straight-line violence over cornering precision.

The 426 Hemi: SAE Net Calibration

While the Hemi was famously rated at 425 hp (Gross), this rework uses SAE Net figures to ensure the car interacts correctly with modern Assetto Corsa standards:

  • Engine & Torque Rework: Calibrated to approximately 350–360 hp (SAE Net) and 490 lb-ft (664 Nm) of torque. The power delivery is now a “slow burn” that turns into a roar as the dual four-barrel carburetors fully open at high RPMs.
  • Quarter-Mile Legend: With the correct launch technique, the car now hits its historical 13.5-second quarter-mile benchmark, reflecting the raw potential of the Hemi when paired with the heavy-duty Dana 60 rear end.
  • Drivetrain Inertia: The flywheel and heavy-duty drivetrain components now have significant rotating mass, making the car “shake” on idle and requiring deliberate, heavy shifts of the Hurst Pistol Grip.

Suspension: The “Boat” Dynamics

The 1969/70 Coronet was a heavy machine, and its stock suspension reflected that.

  • Authentic Body Roll: We have completely reworked the torsion bar front and multi-leaf rear suspension. The car now exhibits tons of body roll, pitching and diving dramatically under braking and acceleration. This “boaty” feel is essential for an authentic stock experience.
  • Tire Performance: Moved away from “semi-slick” logic to a specialized period-correct rubber simulation. These tires have much lower lateral grip and a large slip angle, meaning you have to “aim” the car into corners and wait for the weight to settle.
  • Solid Axle Tramp: The rear end now correctly simulates leaf-spring axle hop if you try to launch too aggressively without managing the weight transfer.

Visual & Technical Polish

  • Extension Graphics: * Chrome & Paint: Enhanced the “High-Impact” paint colors (like Plum Crazy or Hemi Orange) and deepened the reflections on the iconic split-loop front bumper.
    • Detailing: Improved the material shaders for the “Scat Pack” bumblebee stripes and the textured vinyl interior.
  • General Bugfixes: Fixed the tire-to-fender clipping during high-roll cornering and corrected the speedometer scale to match the 150 mph Charger-style Rallye dash.

Installation Requirements

Note: This physics and graphics configuration is designed for compatibility with the SmallBlockHero model.

  • Required: A valid installation of the base model by SmallBlockHero is required to apply these technical updates.
  • Included: The 7z archive contains updated dataextension, and ui folders.
  • Method: Replace the folders in your content/cars/dodge_superbee_sbh directory.
