De Tomaso Pantera GT5-S: The “Italian Muscle” Rework

The GT5-S (the “S” stands for Sportive) was the pinnacle of the Pantera’s late-stage development. This overhaul recalibrates the chassis to handle the “wide-footprint” grip while maintaining the mechanical soul of a gated-manual V8 supercar.

The 5.8L 351 Cleveland: High-Output Calibration

We have remapped the Ford-sourced V8 to reflect the performance of the late-series Panteras:

  • Engine & Torque Rework: Calibrated to an authentic 350 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. The torque curve is now “meatier” in the mid-range, reflecting the large-displacement American V8’s ability to pull the car out of corners with effortless grunt.
  • Acceleration Realism: By refining the power-to-weight ratio and gear ratios, the car now hits 0–100 km/h in ~5.4 seconds, making it a serious threat to 1980s Ferraris and Countachs.
  • ZF 5-Speed Transaxle: The gearbox has been reworked with the authentic ZF manual ratios. Shifts are now slower and more deliberate, requiring the driver to be precise with the clutch to avoid upsetting the rear-biased chassis.

Aerodynamics & Wide-Body Dynamics

The GT5-S featured a massive delta wing and integrated flares that weren’t just for show.

  • Functional Delta Wing: We have tweaked the aero map to ensure the rear wing produces actual downforce at high speeds. This significantly improves stability in fast sweepers compared to the earlier “wingless” Pantera models.
  • The “Square” Stance: With the massive 345/35 ZR15 rear tires modeled, the mechanical grip is immense. However, we have adjusted the suspension geometry to ensure the car retains its “analog” feel—it won’t spin easily, but it will let you know exactly when you’ve reached the limit.
  • Solid Chassis Feel: Adjusted the damping to reflect the GT5-S’s stiffer, updated suspension. The car is less “boaty” than the 1971 original, feeling more like a dedicated track tool.

Visual & Technical Enhancements

  • Graphics Extension: Custom ext_config.ini tweaks for CSP enhance the chrome-on-black accents and the deep-dish wheel reflections. The interior wood and leather materials have been refined for better PBR light interaction.
  • AI Improvements: The AI has been retrained to handle the Pantera’s unique power delivery. They are now more aggressive on straights and more cautious during trail-braking, reflecting the car’s mid-engine weight bias.
  • General Bugfixes: Corrected the track width to match the GT5-S flared fenders and fixed a minor bug where the exhaust flames were misaligned with the quad-pipe setup.

Installation Requirements

Note: This physics and graphics configuration is designed for compatibility with the NotRickyBobby model.

  • Required: A valid installation of the base model by NotRickyBobby is required to apply these technical updates.
  • Included: The 7z archive contains updated dataextension, and ui folders.
  • Method: Replace the folders in your content/cars/detomaso_pantera_gt5s directory.
