Citroën 2CV 6: The “Deux Chevaux” Rework
The 2CV 6 (602cc) was the “powerhouse” of the range, offering a significant jump over the earlier 425cc units. This overhaul brings the engine into strict stock alignment and implements the highly unique 2CV drivetrain and suspension characteristics.
The 602cc Boxer-2: 28 BHP Authenticity
We have stripped away any “modder’s padding” to deliver the raw, factory performance of the air-cooled flat-twin:
- Engine & Torque Rework: Calibrated to exactly 28 bhp (21 kW) @ 5,750 rpm and 39 Nm (29 lb-ft) @ 3,500 rpm. The torque curve is now faithfully flat, requiring the driver to “row” the gears to maintain momentum on even the slightest inclines.
- 4-Speed Overdrive Logic: The drivetrain has been adjusted to the 4-speed manual spec. Following Citroën’s original marketing, the 4th gear is treated as a “surmultipliée” (overdrive), primarily used for maintaining a top speed of 110–115 km/h on level ground.
- Friction & Thermal Logic: Adjusted the air-cooling parameters. The 2CV 6 is incredibly reliable, but its performance is highly sensitive to the weight of passengers and luggage—simulated here through precise mass-to-power scaling.
Dynamics: Soft Suspension & Drag
The 2CV is famous for its extreme body roll and interconnected leading/trailing arm suspension.
- Suspension Geometry: We have reworked the dampers and springs to produce the legendary 2CV lean. The car now exhibits massive body roll in corners, yet remains surprisingly difficult to flip due to its low center of mass (the engine and gearbox sit very low).
- Aero Rebalance: The $C_d$ has been adjusted to a “brick-like” 0.51. While the car is small, its shape is aerodynamically inefficient, and our tweaks ensure that acceleration above 80 km/h feels like a genuine battle against the wind.
- Tire Performance: Updated to represent the thin 125 R15 Michelin X tires. They offer very low rolling resistance but limited lateral grip, encouraging the classic 2CV driving style: Never lift, just lean.
Visual & AI Improvements
- Material Enhancement: Utilizing CSP, we have updated the canvas roof textures and interior plastics to look less like “early AC” and more like aged 1970s materials.
- AI Rework: The AI has been retrained to handle the car’s low power. They will now use the draft (slipstream) more effectively and won’t brake unnecessarily on uphill sections where momentum is critical.
- Bug Fixes: Corrected the 3D collider and fixed the “vibrating” mirror issues found in the older Uncle M versions.
Installation Requirements
Note: This physics and graphics configuration is designed for compatibility with the Uncle M model.
- Required: A valid installation of the base model by Uncle M is required to apply these technical updates.
- Included: The 7z archive contains updated
data, extension, anduifolders. - Method: Replace the folders in your
content/cars/citroen_2cv_6directory.
