BMW M3 E36 Euro: The “S50B32” Evolution Rework

The Euro-spec E36 M3 3.2 was a significant technical leap over the 3.0L, introducing Double VANOS and a 6-speed gearbox. This overhaul recalibrates the MNBA mod to reflect these high-performance “OEM+” standards.

The S50B32 Heart: 321 HP Authenticity

The European 3.2L engine is a masterpiece of N/A engineering. We have remapped the power delivery to match its true 1996+ specifications:

  • Engine & Torque Rework: Calibrated to an authentic 321 hp (236 kW) @ 7,400 rpm and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) @ 3,250 rpm. The torque curve now reflects the “Double VANOS” flexibility—stronger low-end pull with a relentless climb to the 7,600 rpm limiter.
  • 1/4 Mile Performance: By refining the traction and gear ratios, the car now consistently clocks 13.5–13.8 seconds in the standing quarter mile, perfectly matching documented real-world tests.
  • 0–100 km/h in 5.5s: The launch physics and clutch bite point have been adjusted to ensure you can replicate the factory 5.5-second sprint on standard street tires.

Drivetrain & Handling: The 6-Speed Precision

The Euro 3.2 was the first M3 to feature a 6-speed manual (Getrag 420G).

  • Gear Ratio Correction: Reworked the 6-speed drivetrain with the correct ratios ($1^{st}$: 4.23 to $6^{th}$: 0.83) and a 3.23 final drive. This makes the car much more versatile, with a “cruising” 6th gear that doesn’t sacrifice the aggressive spacing of 1st through 4th.
  • Suspension Geometry: Reworked the MNBA suspension files to better simulate the E36’s “M-Chassis” balance. The car now exhibits the signature E36 trait: mild understeer at the limit that can be easily transitioned into a controlled power-slide with the throttle.
  • Aero Rebalance: Adjusted the $C_d$ to a realistic 0.32. At high speeds, the car is stable up to its (derestricted) top speed of approximately 265 km/h (165 mph).

Visual & Technical Enhancements

  • Interior & Exterior Polish: Utilizing CSP, we have enhanced the “Vader” seat textures and added more realistic reflections to the instrument cluster glass. The dash backlighting has been tweaked for a warmer, more authentic 90s BMW amber glow.
  • Sound Rework: The induction sound from the individual throttle bodies has been made more visceral inside the cabin, while the exhaust note is normalized to be loud but “period-correct” (non-ear-bleeding).
  • General Bugfixes: Fixed a common issue with the MNBA mod where the tires would occasionally clip through the fenders under high compression. Generated a new 3D collider for cleaner track-to-car interaction.

Installation Requirements

Note: This physics and graphics configuration is designed for compatibility with the MNBA model.

  • Required: A valid installation of the base model by MNBA is required to apply these technical updates.
  • Included: The 7z archive contains updated dataextension, and ui folders.
  • Method: Replace the folders in your content/cars/mnba_bmw_m3_e36_euro directory.
