Alfa Romeo Montreal: The Bertone V8 Masterpiece

The Montreal is a “dream car” brought to life. Designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, it features iconic “eyebrow” headlight slats and a 2.6L V8 that screams Italian heritage. This physics overhaul focuses on the raw, unassisted connection between the driver and the machine, correcting the engine logic and steering dynamics for a true 1970s experience.

The Detuned Racing V8: DIN Specs & Fuel Logic

The Montreal’s V8 is a masterpiece of miniaturization. We have recalibrated the 2.6L engine to match authentic factory data:

  • DIN Specification Power: The engine has been tuned to its official 200 PS (197 hp) @ 6,500 rpm and 235 Nm of torque. This provides a smoother, more realistic power delivery compared to “SAE” rated versions which often overestimate output.
  • SPICA Mechanical Injection: We have adjusted the fuel consumption logic to reflect the thirsty nature of the SPICA mechanical fuel injection system. Expect realistic burn rates—roughly 13.7L/100km during spirited GT cruising, climbing significantly under full-load racing conditions.
  • Drivetrain Overhaul: The 5-speed ZF manual gearbox (with its signature dog-leg first gear) has been adjusted with realistic ratios and drivetrain loss figures to match the official 0–100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds.

Analogue Feedback: No Power Steering

One of the biggest changes in this rework is the steering feel. The real Montreal had no power assistance, making it heavy at low speeds but incredibly communicative once moving:

  • Steering Lock & Rotation: We have adjusted the steering rack to its realistic 3.5 turns lock-to-lock.
  • FFB Recalibration: The Force Feedback has been tuned to represent the “heavy” manual steering. You will feel the weight of the front-mounted V8 through your wheel, providing a much more visceral sense of the front tires’ grip levels during cornering.
  • Suspension Geometry: We have refined the live-axle rear and double-wishbone front suspension to capture the Montreal’s unique “muscle car” stance without sacrificing the agility expected of an Alfa.

Visual & Technical Enhancements

  • Graphics Extension: Using a custom ext_config.ini, we have enhanced the refraction of the unique “slatted” headlights and improved the interior leather and wood-grain shaders to match the GeroDa74 model’s high detail.
  • LOD & Bugfixes: General fixes to the LOD (Level of Detail) transitions and UI metadata to ensure the car looks and sorts perfectly in Content Manager.

Installation Requirements

Note: This physics and graphics configuration is designed for compatibility with the GeroDa74 model.

  • Required: A valid installation of the base model by GeroDa74 is required to apply these technical updates.
  • Included: The 7z archive contains the updated dataextension, and ui folders.
  • Method: Drop the folders into your content/cars/alfa_montreal directory and overwrite.
